Who may use the site

You must be 21 or older to use this site or create an account.

What the site is

The Periodic Tobacco Tables are reference works about tobacco leaf, cigars and pipes, drawn from published sources. They are not health advice and do not rate any product as safe. No tobacco products are sold on this site.

Your account

Keep access to your email secure, since it is how you sign in. You are responsible for what you enter. We may suspend accounts that misuse the site.

Maker listings

  • Only submit products you are authorized to represent, with information that matches what your company publishes.
  • We may approve, return or decline any submission, and may remove a listing later.
  • Approved listings are labeled as manufacturer-supplied. Listing does not change any product’s place on the published tables.
  • You give Elementum Press permission to display the submitted information and your tasting notes, credited to you, on this site.

Business accounts and profiles

  • Producers, tobacconists, cigar rollers, pipe makers and growers may register free. We confirm a business before anything it enters appears publicly, and we review each public profile.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile, items, prices and availability, and for keeping them current.
  • No tobacco or cigars are sold, ordered or paid for through this site. Customers contact you directly about your products. You alone are responsible for following every law that applies to selling, shipping and advertising tobacco, leaf and related products, including age verification and tax rules.
  • We may decline, hide or remove any profile or item, for example if it is inaccurate, out of date, or breaks these terms or the law.
  • You give Elementum Press permission to display your public profile and public items on this site.

The Tobacco Report

The Tobacco Report gathers headlines about cigars and pipes and links to the publishers’ own websites. We do not write, check or endorse those stories, and we are not responsible for other websites. Headlines are shown as published, and nothing in them is health, legal or financial advice. In the Health Risks and Benefits section, the one-line summaries of studies are our own plain-language descriptions of what each study’s authors reported; read the study itself for its full findings and limits. Publishers who want a story removed can write to us.

Stories, photos and visits you post

  • You may post only your own photos and words, or ones you have permission to share. Everyone shown must have agreed to appear, and no one under 21 may be shown using tobacco.
  • Posts must be about growing, curing or making tobacco, cigars or pipes, or about visiting those places. Do not use posts to sell or price tobacco products.
  • We review every post and may decline, shorten or remove it. You keep ownership of what you post and give Elementum Press permission to show it on this site and to share it, credited to you, when promoting Tobacco Agri-tourism.
  • Visit listings are arranged directly between you and your visitors. Elementum Press takes no bookings or payments and is not responsible for visits; hosts are responsible for safety, permits and the law.

Classifieds

  • Sellers and buyers must be 21 or older. Listings may offer pipes, pipe and cigar accessories, tobacciana and collectibles, related services, events, curing and farm equipment, and farms, barns, shops and lounges for sale or lease. No cigars or finished tobacco products, and nothing containing them, may be listed. Empty tins, boxes and bands sold as collectibles must be described as empty.
  • Cured leaf. Growers may list raw, cured, whole leaf that has not been stemmed, cut or otherwise processed, for sale only to buyers who hold a federal permit from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau as a manufacturer of tobacco products or of processed tobacco. The buyer must give a permit number before contacting the seller, and the seller is responsible for checking the permit and for following every federal, state and local law that applies to the sale. Elementum Press does not check permits, buy, sell, hold or ship leaf, and is not a party to any leaf sale.
  • Every listing is reviewed before it appears, and we may decline, return or remove any listing or account.
  • The seller is responsible for describing the item honestly, owning the item and the photos, shipping it as described, and following every law that applies to the sale. The sale is between the buyer and the seller.
  • Flat listing fees. Listings of farms, barns, shops, lounges and other property, and of cured leaf, carry a flat listing fee shown on the Advertise page, payable when the listing is approved, and no commission. Elementum Press is not a real estate broker or agent and takes no part in negotiating or closing those sales.
  • Commission. For every other category, Elementum Press receives a commission of 15% of the sale price of each item sold through the site; the seller receives the remaining 85%. When checkout is available, the commission is deducted automatically before the seller is paid. A sale arranged through the site’s listings or messages is a sale through the site, and the commission is owed on it.
  • Elementum Press reviews listings but does not inspect, hold or guarantee items, and is not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of items, the truth of listings, or the ability of either party to complete a sale.
  • Messages sent through the site are for questions and offers about a listing; do not use them for spam, harassment or to move a sale off the site to avoid the commission.

Prints and orders

Shops that sell our prints do so under the separate Authorized Reseller Agreement. Prints are made to order by our print partner. Prices, shipping, returns and payment are shown at checkout in our store.
